Now, there are reports that the Supra is making a comeback. These reports seem authentic because Toyota recently renewed the “Supra” trademark registration that expired in 2006. So, we can say that Toyota is bringing back its Supra on the roads.
But one should not expect the Supra production in near future as Toyota is already working on their version of FT-86. News is that Toyota is also planning to introduce its MR2 in 2013. The last model seen of Supra was powered by a turbo engine that could generate 320HP at 5,600 rpm and 315 lb-ft of torque. But the new Supra will certainly look beyond these specifications.
Earlier rumors recommended that the new generation Supra will come with two engine choices, i.e. a 5 liter V8 engine with an output of 450HP and 383 lb-ft of torque and a 3.5 liter V6 engine with an output if 350HP and 275lb-ft of torque. These were mere assumptions as the new generation Supra will be a hybrid sports car.
