Audi A4 is already one of the more fuel efficient luxury vehicles on the market, but the German automaker has just announced two even more efficient versions of the popular model.
Available for order now in Germany, Audi has launched two new TDI versions of its A4 Sedan and Avant. Both models are powered by a 136 horsepower version of Audi’s 2.0L TDI engine. Marking a significant improvement over the 25mpg A4 model sold in the U.S., the new TDI models average 51 mpg on the U.S. cycle.
Although not the fastest models in Audi’s lineup, the two new TDIs promise acceptable performance, with the A4 Sedan taking 9.5 seconds to hit 62mph, with the A4 Avant requiring an additional 0.3 seconds. Both models top out at about 130mph.
The new TDI A4 Sedan will list from €31,600 with the Avant variant carrying a sticker price of €33,250. No word if the new A4 TDI is headed to the U.S. market, but Audi has promised diesel models of most of its vehicles by 2015.
