General Motors surprised the car enthusiasts by releasing the first official pictures of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible which is to make its world debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show on November 17 and beginning its sales in February 2011. It is priced at $30,000 and for the base model $850 destination is included. Details about the full pricing will be presented later this year. Chris Perry, vice-president of Chevrolet Marketing, stated that the Convertible will be desirable to a greater range of drivers. The Convertible is to be launched in the same model and engine offerings as the Camaro Coupe. They include a standard six-speed manual gearbox with an optional six-speed automatic. The 3.6-liter V6 engine pumps out 312-ponies and returns 29 miles per gallon on the highway and the SS model houses a 6.2-liter V8 producing 426-horsepower.
