2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco Front View
Chevrolet has released new information about the 2011 Cruze Eco. On sale in January for $18,895, the car features a turbocharged 1.4-liter Ecotec engine with 138 hp (103 kW / 140 PS) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque. More importantly, the Cruze Eco has an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 28 mpg city / 42 mpg highway (manual) and 26 mpg city / 37 mpg highway (automatic).
To get these segment-leading figures, engineers gave the Eco an aerodynamic body kit (which consists of a revised grille, a modified front fascia, a rear spoiler, and underbody panels), a reduced ride height, thinner sheet metal, and lightweight 17-inch wheels with low-rolling resistance Goodyear tires. Thanks to the latter tweaks, the Eco weighs 3,009 pounds (1,365 kg) instead of 3,223 pounds (1,462 kg).
