The first details of the new Audi Q5 Hybrid have emerged ahead of the car's debut at the Los Angeles auto show. The new model appears to share the same hybrid powertrain that Audi has already premiered in the A8 hybrid design study. Like the flagship saloon, the Q5 will utilise both a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine and an electric motor to offer a combined output of around 241bhp and 354lb ft of torque.
Those figures will mean the SUV should manage 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds and go on to hit 138mph. The Q5 Hybrid will also be capable of operating on electric power alone, but don't expect the range to exceed 3km.
There's no official word yet on consumption figures, but Audi claims the A8 concept was capable of 45mpg and emitted 144g/km CO2.
The Q5's electric motor is installed beneath the boot which means the luggage capacity is reduced by around 60 litres. Up front there's an updated instrument cluster which provides the driver with an overview of the hybrid system.
Full details of the new Q5 model should be released by Audi closer to the car's official unveiling in LA next week.
